Reducing the Carcenogenic Effects of Smoking Marijuana

February 23rd, 2010 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Not withstanding what follows, it simply must be said at the outset that there has never been a death certificate found where the primary cause of death was consumption of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) either through an overdose or from complications from use with another medication.  This is in stark contrast to many commonly-available prescriptions approved by the FDA and is provided through a doctor.  However, as DrugScience.org points out:
It is now generally accepted that “…except for the harms associated with smoking, the adverse effects of marijuana use are within the range of effects tolerated for other medications” (Institute of Medicine Report of 1999). This opinion is supported by recent clinical research. Besides abuse and dependency, the main side effects of concern are those on the cardiovascular, immune, and hormonal systems, and on cognitive functions.

ELIMINATING THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF SMOKE

So, it stands to reason, therefore, that if one could remove the known deleterious effects from smoke consumption, then one could “eliminate” or at least substantially reduce the primary source of potential harm derived from the consumption of cannabis.

THC EDIBLES

One alternative comes to mind is consumption of THC as an edible.  But this means of consumption has its drawbacks.  For one thing edibles differ widely in terms of potency.  For another, edibles take a relatively longer time to enter the bloodstream and therefore to have its desired effect.  For those users of medical marijuana who seek THC intake so as to alleviate the symptoms of nausea and vomiting which is a commonplace necessity for those undergoing a wide variety of cancer treatments, eating more is not the preferred method to introduce the THC medication.

VAPORIZATION

Another alternative is elimination the possibly-carcinogenic substances found in smoke is to “vaporize” rather than “smoke”.  It has yet to be established that THC consumed via vaporization can be harmful to the health of the user.  Given this fact, it would seem to apparent that vaporization is the most healthful, fast and safe means of THC delivery to the user.

Gladly there are a a wide variety of solutions or alternatives that “vaporize” THC which eliminate or substantially reduce the potentially harmful effects of smoke.  What follows below is an outline of potential alternatives.

PORTABLE VAPORIZERS

The Iolite Vaporizer

For those for whom portability or cost is a consideration, one increasingly widely popular alternative is the iolite Vaporizer.  The iolite Vaporizer is fueled by butane and I would highly recommend using highly filtered butane for use in conjunction with this device.  can be easily filled on the road, usually does not require a butane adapter, and is compact enough to fit in a pocket.  What’s more they come in so many decorator colors: black , bluelime green, orange, pink, purple, turquoise, white and yellow

The iolite Vaporizer is a revolutionary cordless pocket-size portable herbal vaporizer from Ireland. The iolite vaporizer provides direct inhalation of vapor in a pocket sized unit.  The iolite is flameless and requires no battery, reaching optimum vaporizing temperature in minutes!  This sleek lightweight vaporizer design is housed in a rugged cordless portable palm size vaporizer unit. The iolite vaporizer is discreet, easy to use and offers a healthier alternative to smoking.  Emloying pateneted technology, the iolite vaporizer creates a catalytic reaction between butane and oxygen with an exhaust system to expel leftover butane.  This process creates the healthiest vaporizing experience of any portable vaporizer on the market today.

 THE VOLCANO VAPORIZER

VOLCANO Vaporizer Sets

Digital Volcano Vaporizer

The top end of Vaporizer solutions is the Storz & Bickel Volcano Vaporizer .  As reported by the Daily Beast in their article, “How Rich People Smoke“, the Volcano Vaporizer is the The Volcano is affectionately known as the “Mercedes Benz” of toking up.  One may guess the rich people also live longer through “Safer Reefer” practices.

The Volcano vaporization system offers of two valves types, the “Easy Valve” and the “Solid Valve”.  Also, you can choose between two types of vaporizors: Volcano Digit or the Volcano Classic. The valves fit both hot air generators, giving you a choice of 4 different vaporizer sets.  Whichever Volcano you decide upon, there is no difference in the effect achieved.

Storz & Bickel offers free next-day air delivery which is included in the price.  Second-day air is offered for Canadian customers.
